The Format and Schedule for the Dutch Mixed Series is determined by the WU (NFB Workgroup Ultimate).

Some of this information may change as we get closer to the Series start.

4/3 OR 5/2 Gender Mix

Mixed ultimate is usually 4-3; that means the offense decides the mix of men and women on the line, with a 4-3 ratio being ideal. However, we realize, this being the first mixed series in Holland, that some teams may not have enough of one gender (usually women), so there is some flexibility in the format. Captains must agree before a match on the minimum gender mix.

It is expected that some teams will be unable to play 4-3. Please be understanding that this can happen. Captains can agree to play the match (or part of it) with a 5-2 mix. This is within the rules for the first year of the Dutch Mixed Series. But, it is expected of all team organisers to do their best to ensure they bring enough players of both genders that most games can be played 4-3.

Remember, this series is to help develop your club. The more effort you put in to recruit ladies, the stronger your club will be in the future.

As always, spirit rules! Those teams that bring lots of women will not enjoy playing many games of 5-2 because their women will not get much pitch-time. Please be aware of this and do not force these teams to play 5-2 unless it is absolutely necessary.
